Why Fandoms are Important to Me

“Fairytales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten.”

– G. K. Chesterton

To some people, books and movies are just books and movies. A way to entertain themselves, maybe use their imaginations for a short time and then go back to normal life. That’s not how it works for me.

The Elven Padawan – #13 – Featuring special guest, Aceofstars16!

Finally, another episode of The Elven Padawan podcast!
In this episode, Shay interviews Star Wars fanfiction writer, Aceofstars16! Ace is also a HUGE Star Wars Rebels fan, so you probably already know where this is heading.
Besides the interview (and obsessing over Rebels), the girls also discuss their Star Wars OTPs, social media, The Last Jedi, Mortis connections with the rest of the saga, and what the canon lifespan of a Twi’lek is.

The Elven Padawan – #12 – The Last Jedi initial thoughts

It’s finally time for Shay’s thoughts on STAR WARS VIII: THE LAST JEDI!!!
Actually, it’s more like unorganized ranting about different main aspects of the film here… Shay explores her thoughts on The Force Awakens and how they compare to The Last Jedi, and what she thought of the film overall. Then she goes into some thoughts on the character highpoints: Rey’s development, Rey and Kylo’s relationship, Luke’s change and whether it destroys his character or not, and more.
(There will probably be another part to thisin the form of a legitimate review next time, cuz this girl has waaay too many thoughts to fit into one 1-hour episode!!)

TEP’s “The Last Jedi” episode: We Need Your Help!!

We are getting so close to Star Wars: The Last Jedi right now, and I am so excited!! Sadly, I won’t be getting to see this newest installment until after Christmas, but that won’t stop me from ramping up the excitement for the film with The Elven Padawan! Since you probably won’t be hearing a whole lot concerning The Last Jedi from me after the release, I’d like to try something new and fun before it, and I need all your help!

Some of you may have already seen this on my Twitter feed, but for those of you who haven’t, I still want your help. I’m trying to put together a “community input” episode for The Last Jedi. You know how many news channels often go out on the streets and ask random people they see questions concerning different things, then clip all these bits together into one presentation? I’ve always loved to watch those, so I’ve decided to try it out with The Elven Padawan podcast!

Here’s how it all works, as I posted about it on Twitter:

Does all that make sense? In short, I’m trying to collect as many people’s input on these questions as possible, then edit them all together and release the podcast in time for the premier of The Last Jedi.

Like I said in the tweets, you don’t have to do anything fancy. Just let me know if you’re interested (you can email me at: shay@elvenpadawan.com), and I’ll send you the all the info, including the questions and instructions for how to get them back to me, and you can be part! And like I said, all you have to have is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with an audio recorder (which almost all devices have reloaded onto them when purchased), and some excitement for The Last Jedi.

As of right now I have a few people interested, but I’d like to get this out as much as possible and get as many people as I can involved. It’s a fun project that I’m really excited to see turn out, and I think it might help gather some more attention for The Elven Padawan. So if you have friends or family members who might be interested as well, pass this on to them, or get together in a group and record all your answers at once!

I know this is a bit of a short notice, as The Last Jedi releases at midnight Friday morning for most people, and many are getting in to see it even earlier than that on Thursday, and I’m hoping to get it out Thursday night at the latest. But I still think we can do this and make it awesome with your help. 🙂

So who’s up for it?? Cummon, Star Wars fans, let’s do this thing!! 😀

The finale season of Star Wars: Rebels begins airing at 12:30 a.m. ET Monday, October 16 on Disney XD. New episodes will release at the same time every Monday for the next several weeks until the episode “Rebel Assault”, which will air at 12:30 a.m. ET Monday, November 13. After this episode Rebels will take a mid-season break during the holiday season, then resume airing to finish out the season sometime in early 2018.

We also recently got a recap of the entire show so far, featuring key points from season 1, 2, and 3, as well as shots teasing the upcoming season 4.

And finally, we’ve been given a special clip from the season 4 premier episode, “Heroes of Mandalor”, which will begin airing on Disney XD within 24 hours of this post.

The new clip features Sabine and her fellow Rebel friends, including Jedi-in-training Ezra Bridger and Mandalorian Protector Fen Rau, arriving on the planet of Mandalore and being greeted by Bo-Katan Kryze. Bo has become a fan favorite for her appearences in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, and this will be her first appearance in Rebels, though her addition to this show has long been speculated on and expected by fans.
