Finally, another episode of The Elven Padawan podcast!
In this episode, Shay interviews Star Wars fanfiction writer, Aceofstars16! Ace is also a HUGE Star Wars Rebels fan, so you probably already know where this is heading.
Besides the interview (and obsessing over Rebels), the girls also discuss their Star Wars OTPs, social media, The Last Jedi, Mortis connections with the rest of the saga, and what the canon lifespan of a Twi’lek is.

Captain Phasma is “Back” in new TLJ spot!

As the hype leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues, yet another TV spot for the film has been released, featuring our first new line from feared commander of the First Order ranks, Captain Phasma!

“So good to have you back”, indeed, Captain!

While this spot was mostly a remixed version of shots we’d seen before, we were treated to a new line from Captain Phasma, who didn’t get many moments to herself from the previous trailers. And of course, we can’t forget Chewie’s reaction to an overstimulated porg on board the Millenium Falcon!!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is rated PG-13 for “Sequences of Sci-Fi Action and Violence”, and arrives in theaters December 15, 2017.

“Tempt”: New TLJ spot seems to be changing things up!

A new TV spot from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi features previously unseen footage and lines from Rey and Luke!!

It seems that many of us may have been totally wrong in our predictions for where Rey, Luke, and all our other heroes are headed, as well as where the Force itself is pointing them!!

In this brand-new TV spot, we hear Rey repeat a line we all probably have permanently imprinted on our brains by now, as Luke asks her, “What do you see?” But this time, we hear a slightly different answer from the hopeful young student of the Force…

“Light… Darkness…. and…. something Else….” she breathes.

This seems to give a very different implication than what many fans predicted, that Rey would discover and gain the ability to channel the energy of the Force in a way many fans seem to theorize is only possible through the ultimate balance of both Light and Darkness. To be honest, I’ve always had problems with this theory myself, primarily because of what it does to the overall philosophy of the Jedi, as well as other conflicts to the way in which we’ve always understood the Force to work in canon.

But now, it seems something slightly different is at play…. and the most concerning part of it all is another new line from this spot…

“It’s calling me!” Rey says in an almost pleading tone, and her voice betrays that something is happening deep within her being, something that seems to be tearing her apart. This is all immediately followed by Luke’s commands to “Resist it!”, and finally him screaming her name at her, seemingly in desperation, trying to break her free from the hold of whatever is trying to suck her irretrievably into its grasp.

What could it all mean??! I know I’m intrigued, and simply can not wait for this movie to come and our answers with it!

What do you all think of this new spot and what its implications could mean for Rey, Luke, and the future of the Jedi Order? Let me know in the comments below, I always love discussing these things with you!!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases in theaters December 15, 2017.

The Last Jedi: “Heroes” | Rating of TLJ

Another TV spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is up on the Star Wars official YouTube page!!

And it finally gives us some Finn!!!

YAY we finally get some stuff from our favorite top-First-Order-stormtrooper-turned-Resistance-fighter!!!

My favorite part?

Poe: “Finn! You must have a thousand questions!”

Finn: “Where’s Rey?”

Also, The Last Jedi has finally received its rating:

Apparently it’s been given a PG-13 for “Sequences of Sci-Fi Action and Violence”. Which is honestly not all that surprising, given the bits we know of the film so far, as well as the current position of most typical sci-fi/fantasy/action adventure films.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases in theaters on December 15, 2017.

The Elven Padawan: From Erebor to Echo Base – #9 – Destiny, Rebels, HerUniverse, &… a LOTR TV show??!!

Shay goes solo! All by herself, she rambles about: recent episodes of Forces of Destiny, why you should be watching them, and how they tie into the bigger story (#HeraLives!!); Star Wars Rebels and where it’s headed as the show comes to a close; recent releases from HerUniverse and Shay’s tastes in fandom fashion; and the just-dropped reports on the possibility of Amazon making a Lord of the Rings series. She also reads some thoughts from the audience concerning these topics, and takes a few minutes to ramble about Vice Admiral Holdo, Rose, and other characters entering the Star Wars universe.

New Star Wars Rebels season 4 teasers!

We have a new preview for Star Wars: Rebels, featuring brand-new clips from the season opener, “Heroes of Mandalore”!!

Less than an hour ago on Disney XD’s official Twitter, this new preview for the 4th and final season of Star Wars: Rebels was dropped:

The new preview features shots from the war-ravened surface of Mandalore, including our first long, hard look at the devastation left by that now-infamous weapon, which we can assume is the same one built by Sabine Wren, all those years ago. It would seem that Grand Admiral Thrawn is more than happy to bring this weapon back to use, and once again stir up the fight, both inwards and outwards, of the girl who created it. No doubt about it, this season premier is going to be a wild ride, and for those of us who didn’t have the privilege of watching it at Celebration Orlando or Fan Expo Canada earlier this year, the days are drawer nearer when we’ll be finally be able to get all the details on the war about to break out on Mandalore.

Two other teasers for the 4th season of Rebels were also revealed recently, and though these don’t seem to include any new shots of distinct importance, they are interesting and are serving to get us all even more hyped before the show starts back on the 16th of this month.

A big thanks to Johnamarie Macias (@BlueJaigEyes) of The Wookiee Gunner for spreading those last two teasers around! 🙂

These teasers serve as a reminder of just how far the show has come since it’s beginning on Lothal, smoking out Imperials and stealing food for displaced civilians. Although we still all loved those days when things were simpler, and to be honest, I sometimes miss the happier-toned, family adventures of the Ghost crew. But Ezra is right when he reminds us, “This is how a rebellion starts.” Last season we saw the actual formation of the Rebel Alliance, and now we’re seeing that last bit of time that led up to events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and finally to the full-out Galactic Civil War showcased in the original trilogy of Star Wars films. And that’s the part I want people to understand. It’s not just some badly animated, kidsy-fied, Disney-channel Star Wars show. This is showing us history, pieces that may not be totally necessary to understanding the rest of the saga, but sure do explain a lot and make you realize just how much the whole story is tied together, just as Rogue One did. Not to mention how much has been drawn from the old Legends brand back into the New Canon storytelling. But I’m afraid too many people dismiss this great piece of storytelling because they don’t care for the animated, or, as I’m truly starting to think, because it’s become “cool” to hate on the show. And that’s a shame, because they’re missing out on some fantastic Star Wars.

Ok, sorry for the rant. I’m finished now. 🙂

What are your thoughts on these new previews? Is there are certain part you’re most excited for from season 4? Let me know in the comments below!

New Forces of Destiny trailer!! + airing schedule

The trailer for the second set of Forces of Destiny episodes is out!!

Forces of Destiny, a new branch of the Star Wars universe from Lucasfilm featuring 2D animated shorts, has just had a new trailer for its second set of episodes released!

This new trailer showcases the return of some of our favorite heroes who were already featured in first season of the the series (like Sabine Wren, Rey, Padmé Amidala, Ahsoka Tano and her master Anakin Skywalker, and Princess Leia Organa), as well as some new faces to the platform, though not to fans: Hera Syndulla, Ketsu Onyo, Han Solo, and a certain “big deal” called Finn, as well as the not-so-pleasant visage of Nima Outpost’s famed junk dealer, Unkar Plutt.

I have to admit, there’s one point in this trailer that caused me to immediately start up the fangirl tradition of “squee-ing” the moment my brain registered what I was seeing. It’s something many fans have speculated about for quite a while now, and seeing it become a reality is amazing. I’m pretty sure many of you know right off what I’m speaking of. 😉

More info on the air times and details on the actors involved in the series were announced on the Star Wars offical website.

The half-hour specials will air on Sunday, October 1 and Sunday, October 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and the Disney Channel App, and feature a total of eight never-before-seen installments. Many of the original talents behind the characters have reprised their roles, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Felicity Jones, Tiya Sircar, Ashley Eckstein, Vanessa Marshall, Catherine Taber, and Matt Lanter, among others. Following the specials, these new shorts will also launch on Disney YouTube.

Lucasfilm publicist Tracy Cannobbio hopped on Twitter to clarify some things about how this new set of episodes will be released: first through two, half-hour specials on Dinsey XD, then later through individual releases on YouTube (which was the manner in which the first set was released). Here are some of her tweets that will hopefully help to make sense of the slightly complicated release schedule:

What do you think of the new trailer? What are your thoughts on this new series so far? Have a favorite moment from any of it, from the current episodes to trailer to the readers? Let me know in the comments!
